Fort Pickens is a pentagonal historic United States military fort on Santa Rosa Island in the Pensacola, Florida, area. It is named after American Revolutionary War hero Andrew Pickens. The fort was completed in 1834 and remained in use until 1947.
Visitors to the Fort Pickens area today can enjoy historic buildings, fort remnants, breezy bike rides along the beach, bird watching, and beautiful views. Fort Pickens is part of the Gulf Islands National Seashore, established in 1971, and is accessed via the Pensacola Beach bridge. Follow Fort Pickens Rd which terminates at the park entrance.
